Leasing a Copier

Leasing a new copier is a big step for any business. Before you sign a lease for an expensive copier, you should consider some of the following issues:

1. Make sure that you have thoroughly thought out the various features that your company will need for your new copier to be able to do. Ask a your sales rep for a list of different features so you can make your decision more accurately. 

2. Will you want to be able to own the copier at the end of the lease or is your business planning on giving the copier back at the end of it? What is called the “buck-out” lease enables you to own the copier at the end of the lease. This is nice obviously because you get to own the copier at the end of it, but giving the copier back at the end of the lease does get you somewhat of a discount. If you are return the copier, make sure that you understand the fine print so that you know the specifics on returning the copier.

3. Do you know your businesses copier usage and the type of copying your business does? Know how much color copying, stapling and booklet making that your business will need the copier to be able to do. Make sure that if you use these features frequently that they will not cost you a lot each time.
